Ghost

Ghost is an open source platform for publishing, newsletters and paid memberships, backed by a non-profit foundation with no investors. It targets independent creators, journalists and small newsrooms who want to build a real business around their content while staying in control of their data. Instead of being tied to one closed service, you get software you can install on your own server.

It works simply: you write posts in a clean editor, Ghost publishes them on your website and emails them to your subscribers at the same time. You turn readers into members via signup forms, lock part of your content for paying members only, and track how many subscribers you have, how they open emails and where your community is growing. In goes your text, out comes a site plus a newsletter and measurable audience data.
