GitHub Copilot is an AI pair programmer from GitHub (Microsoft) built with OpenAI and others. It's the world's most widely adopted AI developer tool and has become the default choice for teams and individuals who want to write code faster. It suits the complete beginner learning to code as well as the seasoned senior tackling a large project.

It works right inside your editor. As you type, it reads the context of the whole file and project and suggests the next line or an entire function in real time — you just accept it with the Tab key. It also has a built-in chat where you can ask about your code, get an error explained, or generate tests, all grounded in what you have open.
