Bathroom regrouting and resealing without demolition: the craft is knowing when it won’t do
You rake out the old grout, replace the mouldy silicone around the bath and shower, and the bathroom looks ten years younger in one day for a fraction of a renovation. But the craft isn’t in the sealant gun. It’s in recognising when there’s water behind the tiles and regrouting would be cheating the customer.

You offer quick bathroom refreshes: removing old grout and regrouting, replacing the silicone around the bath, shower and basin, perhaps sealing or recolouring the grout and cleaning the tiles. The customer is most often a landlord between two tenants, the owner of a short-let flat or a family that doesn’t want to demolish. The job takes a day, you don’t need a van full of materials and the customer can picture the result from one photo. The catch is twofold. In many countries grouting and tiling count as a regulated building trade requiring a qualification or a qualified supervisor — check the rules where you are. And above all: regrouting doesn’t fix a tile with water behind it or one that has come loose. Whoever can spot that and say so earns trust; whoever keeps quiet gets a complaint.
Most bathrooms don’t look old because of the tiles but because of what’s between them. Blackened silicone around the bath, crumbling grey grout, mould in the corners of the shower. The tiles themselves are usually fine; nobody wants to see them in that frame.
💡 Why it works
⚡A result in one day for a fraction of the price
The bathroom looks new without demolition, dust or weeks without a shower. The customer pays hundreds instead of thousands and decides from a single before-and-after photo.
