Lewiatan
Bring your independent grocery store under a strong Polish brand and gain the buying power of a national chain — without giving up ownership of your business.
Lewiatan (Polska Sieć Handlowa Lewiatan) is one of Poland's largest grocery-retail franchise and affiliation networks. It groups neighbourhood convenience shops and mid-size supermarkets run by independent local merchants under a shared brand. It was created to band Polish independent shopkeepers together so they could compete with foreign discount and hypermarket chains, and so it positions itself as the local, good-neighbour alternative with fresh and regional assortment. The network is part of the larger Eurocash group, which underpins its wholesale supply.
The operator signs a franchise or cooperation agreement with a regional Lewiatan company and converts their existing store to the brand, or opens a new one. HQ provides the brand and a recognisable visual identity, a Standards Book (Księga Standardów) governing the look and day-to-day procedures, negotiated central purchasing with hundreds of supplier contracts and preferential ancillary deals (insurance, banking, energy, telecom), a private-label range, national TV, radio and press advertising alongside local promo materials, an e-learning and training centre, IT, loyalty and online-store tools, and partial financing toward store fit-out and equipment. Crucially the operator keeps ownership and legal independence of their own company — they own the store, employ staff and manage local execution, while buying through and complying with the network.
